Abstract

This study divided objects by working ability and analyzed the extent of state dependence in the National Basic Living Security (NBLS), using data from the Korea Welfare Panel Study (KOWEPS). A range of dynamic random effects probit model estimation was used to handle unobserved heterogeneity in a less restrictive way. The aggregate showed strong the state dependence in NBLS, but the households with relatively high working ability showed the stronger the state dependence than the households with relatively low working ability. This can find the cause from the individual unobserved heterogeneity in the total error term. The households with relatively high working ability showed the low rate of the individual unobserved heterogeneity in the total error term than the households with relatively low working ability.
